The award ceremony took place on behalf of the Bavarian Minister of State for the Environment Thorsten Glauber. For the Hacker Feinmechanik GmbH the managing director Gerald Watzl accepted the certificate.<\/p>\n<p>Hacker Feinmechanik GmbH has been a member of the Bavarian Environmental Pact since 2007. We were again rewarded with a certificate for our constant commitment and new projects for environmental protection. Here&#8217;s a look at some of our environmental and climate projects:<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #00519e;\">Energy saving<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>In 2015, a large part of the fluorescent tubes in the halls were replaced with LED lighting, reducing the total electricity consumption for lighting by approximately 40% (84,000 kWh). In all renovation and new construction measures, the fluorescent tubes are gradually being replaced by LED lighting. Most recently, fluorescent tubes were replaced with LED lighting during the modernization of assembly and office space in 2019. In 2021, the last sections in the operating halls will be equipped with LED lighting.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #00519e;\">Increase energy efficiency<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>In 2019, a compressed air management system was put into operation, which optimally regulates the use of all air compressors in the plant according to energy efficiency criteria. In addition, a new, more efficient compressor was procured and the compressed air distribution was flow-optimized. In total, the electricity consumption for compressed air was thus reduced by approx. 50,000 kWh p.a. (-14%).<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #00519e;\">Reduction of CO2 emissions through a photovoltaic system for self-consumption<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>In mid-2019, another photovoltaic system with 200 kWp output was put into operation. Together with the existing system, the PV systems on the roofs of Hacker Feinmechanik GmbH can produce up to 570 kWp of electricity for on-site consumption. This means that Hacker Feinmechanik GmbH can now cover over 20% of its energy requirements with solar power generated on site. The saving of climate-damaging CO2 through the use of PV electricity amounts to approx. 320 tons. per year.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #00519e;\">Promotion of nature conservation and biodiversity<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The sole shareholder of Hacker Feinmechanik GmbH, Karl Hacker, has been cultivating 5 hectares of local orchards since 2018. The meadow orchards provide a valuable habitat for many animal and plant species. From the yields, about 3,000 liters of certified organic apple and pear juice were pressed in 2019 and even around 9,000 liters in 2020.
